Toyota Hybrid Prius Warning

Just to let you guys know. If you get the version with the HID headlights lamp then you are going to being paying $300 per headlamp when they go out. They will start to flicker off at times and then turn back on when you shut of and on again. This is going to get costly down the line and may not save you as much as you thought. A regular headlamp usually will on run you about $30 bucks a pair. So just be careful when you buy the Toyota Prius or any car that has HID headlights. The guys at Kragen told me that they can cost as much as $800 bucks for each headlamp.

So just a warning for everyone.

I am somewhat surprised that the Prius would have anything negative associated with it. It was one of the first hybrids to become popular. Perhaps not all the bugs and shaken out of it.

Can those lamps be replaced with less expensive lamps?

You would htink that there would be a choice of lamps, since these are so expensive to replace!

i am not sure if there are any cheap alternatives to the HID lights...if so, i am interested in hearing about them since replacements are so expensive.

Sounds like it would be a good idea to look at aftermarket lights. I had an old Ford Probe that I found aftermarket HID lights that I was able to install for about $200.00 for the kit.

Oh really. I think i got escaped. The company people forced me to put HID headlights. But i didn't install it due to its heavy cost. Now i'm safe.
